Two days and two nights;
It
was night when we began,
And
it was night when we ended.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was there we slept and ate,
And
it was there we sat and shat.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was when the strangers became friends,
And
unity prevailed in utmost diversity.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was where I played sudoku and read,
And
others played cards, chatted, and time-passed.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was where chaiwala, coffewala,
and paniwala earned their bread,
And
sweeper, begger, hijra, and acrobat earned his too.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was when some earned their bread by labour
(selling or singing or sweeping),
And
others with no such sense of dignity at all
(begging or resonant-clapping).
Two
days and two nights;
It
was when taps went dry and toilets stank,
And
the phones batteries too went low and dead.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was when the heat of Andra got into us for long,
And
became cooler and eye-pleasing when reaching the North.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was the longest journey I have ever traveled,
And we took the train from Chennai to NJP.
Two
days and two nights;
It
was when the Chennai-Guahatti Express
wheeled on the rails,
And so marked the beginning of our ALL INDIA DREAM TOUR 2012.
