Jesus, It’s You Who Teaches Me

Jesus,
It’s you who walks an unending journey

             Teaching me to strengthen my paralyzed legs;

Works tirelessly

             Teaching me to stretch out my broken hands;

Bears a heavy burden

             Teaching me to rejuvenate my weary shoulders;

Undergoes excruciating pain

             Teaching me to wipe away my unending tears;

Hears harsh words

             Teaching me to open up my deaf ears;

Speaks softly

             Teaching me to control my noisy mouth;

Thinks wisely

             Teaching me to censor my foolish thoughts;

Loves tenderly

             Teaching me to break open my stony heart;

Listen patiently

             Teaching me to cast away my self-pride;

Accepts courageously

             Teaching me to accept things I cannot change;

Lives poor

             Teaching me to give up my worry-making possessions;

Obeys wilfully

             Teaching me to shed aside my rebellious attitudes;

Dies for me

             Teaching me to die for my selfishness.
